Both Obiena and Guarte excelled in track and field, with Obiena capturing three gold medals and one silver in SEA Games and Guarte picking up two silver in the men's 800m and 1500m events during the 2011 edition in Jakarta, Indonesia. Guarte later transitioned to obstacle course racing, where he continued to thrive, winning a couple of gold medals. In 2019, he won the men's 5km of OCR before he and three others grabbed the gold in the men's team relay during the Cambodia SEA Games last year.
