Catholic devotees are gearing up for the Feast of Jesus Nazareno , a significant religious event in the Philippines . Preparations are in full swing at the Minor Basilica in Quiapo, Manila, with the 'pahalik,' a key ceremony where devotees touch or kiss a replica of the Black Nazarene, scheduled to begin on January 7th. The 'pahalik' will precede 30 Fiesta Masses from January 8th to 9th.

Manila Archbishop Cardinal Jose Advincula will lead the traditional 'Misa Mayor' at midnight on January 9th, the feast day. The celebration officially kicked off on December 31st with a Novena Mass, followed by the blessing of replica images and banners on January 2nd. The highlight of the feast is the Traslacion, a grand procession of the revered image of Jesus Nazareno. Millions of devotees participate in this procession from Quirino Grandstand to the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno in Quiapo. Last year's Traslacion drew an immense crowd of 6.5 million devotees
