The Philippine Army conducted the inaugural Indigenous Tribal Games in observance of Indigenous People’s (IP) Month, aiming to strengthen partnerships with Indigenous Peoples and prevent their radicalization and recruitment by CTGs.
The Philippine Army conducted the inaugural Indigenous Tribal Games in observance of Indigenous People’s (IP) Month at Sitio Bagang, Barangay Sante Fe, San Marcelino, Zambales . The event, which featured 12 different events involving 200 members of the Indigenous Peoples (IP) community, was part of the Army’s mission to partner with IP communities as a component of Territorial Defense Operations (TDO).
The games were facilitated by the 7th Infantry Division and the San Marcelino, Zambales IP Mandatory Representative (IPMR), in collaboration with local government units and key stakeholders. Army Chief Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido emphasized the importance of engaging with IP communities to prevent their radicalization and recruitment by Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs), who exploit the communities and their ancestral lands
