Newly installed 8th Infantry Division Commander Maj. Gen. Adonis Ariel G. Orio receives the Command flag from Acting Army Chief Maj. Gen. Leodevic B. Guinid during the division's Change of Command Ceremony in Camp General Vicente Lukban, Catbalogan, Samar on November 7, 2024. The Philippine Army’s 8th Infantry “Stormtroopers” Division welcomed Major General Adonis Ariel Orio as its new Chief.
Orio officially took the helm of the Division, succeeding Brig. Gen. Perfecto P. Peñaredondo, and becoming the 27th Commander of the Samar troops.Prior to his new designation, Maj. Gen. Orio commanded the 402nd Infantry “Stingers” Brigade of the 4th Infantry Division. Maj. Gen. Orio led his Brigade in fostering inclusive peace and sustainable development in conflict-affected communities in the CARAGA Region by successfully dismantling Communist Terrorist Group Fronts and reducing the number of active CTG fighters within his area of operations.
“To the valiant men and women of 8ID, continue your dedicated service to our countrymen. Your dedication and sacrifices are making a real impact, and each day we gain towards achieving our shared goals,” remarked Vice Commander of the Philippine Army, Maj. Gen. Leodevic B. Guinid, on behalf of Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido.
