Work and classes were suspended in Bohol Province and in Cebu Island because of inclement weather on Thursday, Jan. 12.

In a memorandum, Bohol Gov. Aris Aumentado ordered the suspension of classes in all levels of public and private schools in the entire province.Bohol Gov. “We also gathered officials from various offices for a meeting to see to it that necessary assistance will be given to those affected by this non-stop rains that the province is experiencing. We are calling on the Boholanos to take safety measures at all times,” Aumentado said.Data from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office showed that 38 local government units declared suspension of classes.
Among the LGU’s that declared suspension of classes were the towns of Samboan, Alegria, Moalboal, Catmon, Malabuyoc, Minglanilla, Carmen, Dumanjug, Badian, Tabogon, Cordova, Pinamungajan, Ginatilan, Aloguinsan, Compostela, Barili, Sta. Fe, Santander, Boljoon, Bantayan, Madridejos, Ronda, Oslob, Tudela, Liloan, and Oslob, Pilar, Balamban, Daanbantayan, Medellin, Tabuelan, Consolacion, and Alcantara and the cities of Mandaue, Carcar, Danao, Talisay and Lapu-Lapu.
Metro Cebu has been experiencing torrential rain the past few days. The inclement weather was caused by a low pressure area that was spotted east of Surigao City as of 8 a.m. on Thursday.
