Kendric Davis scored 20 of his game-high 31 points in the first half as the Tigers claimed the AAC’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Sasser, the AAC’s player of the year, was held out of the game with a groin strain he suffered early in Saturday’s semifinals win over Cincinnati. After the game, coach Kelvin Sampson said the Cougars would “err on the side of caution” with the NCAA Tournament set to begin this week.
Sasser missed most of last season with a foot injury as the Cougars advanced to the Elite Eight. The team did not provide any updates about Sasser's status. only to say he continues to receive treatment.
