It is the measurement or detection of something from a distance. For example, you are reading this article with your eye. That process is a type of remote sensing using visible light. Satellites carry instruments that exploitto reveal cool things on Earth and better understand its systems.
At first glance, it reminded me of a giant piece of green candy with swirls. It is actually Lake Khanka in China. Why does it look like that?. Was this lake invaded by a extraterrestrial green slime? The answer is no. The image represents is a manifestation of remote sensing and some innovative image processing. Where is Lake Khanka anyhow? It is located in a region by the Sea of Japan at the border of China and Russia .
