The VMAs is one of the best nights of the year to see your favorite artists show off both their impressive vocals and stunning sense of style. Which looks slayed on the red carpet in 2023?
Although we were keeping our hopes up, sadly, Britney Spears did not attend the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards.This was the first time in over a decade that Spears has received a nomination at the show, thanks to the new VMAs Most Iconic Performance category, introduced this year to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the ceremony.
This was, of course, the performance in which Spears locked lips with Madonna and Madonna then kissed Aguilera as the trio completed their rendition of “Like a Virgin”—a moment that, today, doesn’t seem all that shocking, but was deemed quite so when it occurred in 2003.Still, despite the recognition this year, Spears was not present at the show, and she actually hasn’t been back to the VMAs since 2016.
