White House press secretary K_JeanPierre could not answer why President JoeBiden did not know about the baby formula crisis until April.
Jean-Pierre faced a slew of questions Wednesday on the topic, just an hour after Biden himself revealed that he was not aware of the scope of the problem until months after Abbott Laboratories shut down its facility, leading to the nationwide formula shortages.
"We have been working on this issue from day one," Jean-Pierre dodged in one such exchange."What you hear from the president is his frustration."In a separate exchange, NBC News's Kelly O'Donnell pressed Jean-Pierre over her comments about the"information flow" within the White House and why some matters are brought to Biden's desk and not others.
"No, I am not questioning the president at all. I'm just saying I have not spoken to the president," Jean-Pierre responded."This is a very common way of operating, way of moving. Nothing unusual about this." "You're asking me to confirm something, and I mean, I was in my office, I did not actually hear what the president said.
