What is 'tranq' and why are health officials concerned about it?
The Texas Department of State Health Services has issued an advisory notifying healthcare providers of reports that an animal tranquilizer called xylazine has been found mixed with illegal drugs in Texas and around the nation. Dr. Joseph Chang, chief medical officer at Parkland Health, joined Ask the Expert on Thursday, to explain why this is most concerning.
