The US Embassy in Manila said Saturday that assistance for those affected by Typhoon EgayPH already arrived in Laoag as Washington joined in providing relief efforts to those in need.
Members of the US Marines worked with the Philippine government to offload and deliver emergency supplies to those affected by the typhoon, the embassy said in a Twitter post.
The US Agency for International Development also mobilized its disaster preparedness funding to deploy trucks to help the Department of Social Welfare and Development in transporting 11,000 family food packs to those affected by Egay, it added.Meanwhile, the Australian Embassy in Manila said Canberra extended P55 million worth of assistance for emergency communications of the provinces of Agusan del Norte, Catanduanes and Samar.
The grant was received by the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation on Friday as Australia was also briefed about the private sector’s response to typhoon victims. PDRF member companies include Manila Water and Maynila, which have also been monitoring water conditions of dams, among others.
