Philippine Ambassador to the US, Jose Manuel Romualdez, reveals that President-elect Trump's administration will focus on deporting illegal immigrants with criminal records and links to terrorism.
Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose Manuel Romualdez stated that the US government under President-elect Donald Trump will prioritize the deportation of illegal immigrants with criminal records and those involved in terrorist activities. In an interview with Super Radyo dzBB on Thursday, Romualdez revealed that he obtained this information from American law enforcers. Romualdez stated that these individuals will be deported from various states in America.
Last November, Romualdez advised Filipinos in the US who are illegally residing there not to wait to be deported. The deportation of illegal immigrants is part of Trump's campaign promise when he ran for and won the presidency. According to Romualdez, Filipinos who are illegally staying in the US should seek competent lawyers to obtain legal documents that would allow them to remain in the country. An estimated 300,000 to 350,000 Filipinos are illegally residing in the US, according to Romualdez. Romualdez expressed concern that illegal immigrants who still wish to stay and work in the US may become exploited. 'Some are hired to work for them, they are not given the proper wages,' said the ambassador. Meanwhile, Romualdez also shared a brief meeting and conversation with Trump at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida.
