“We did a little bit of soul searching. When we had to pivot our menu, we really started asking ourselves what makes us feel good,” she said. “We’ve tried to curate something very seeded from a wellness standpoint, and that’s a lot of what we do anyway. I think everyone is kind of re-evaluating how and what we consume in all aspects of our lives.”
Instead of a typical bar program, Genthe said they designed one around drinks that are better for you but aren’t sad substitutes for alcohol. They’ll have non-alcoholic stouts, IPAs, bourbon, turmeric bloody Marys, arugula spritz, dandelion martinis, margaritas with preserved lemon, and Acid League vinegar wines to pair with food. They’ll also have a bar stocked with bitters and sodas to concoct an array of mixed drinks.
Genthe is quick to make it clear that Fount is not anti-alcohol and she’s really not keen on the term “sober bar.” Sobriety is personal, she says, and it doesn’t really matter why someone is opting for non-alcoholic beverages. She just wants to provide a place where people can enjoy really good drinks that happen to be alcohol free.The cafe is currently open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays, and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.
