commercial featuring Black-owned feminine hygiene company The Honey Pot is being attacked online by white people who have deemed it to be "racist."

In the short commercial, posted on February 4 as part of Target’s “Founders We Believe In” series, The Honey Pot founder Beatrice Dixon discusses the creation of her brand and the difficulties that she faced when trying to launch it. “In the beginning, it wasn’t easy to start this company,” Dixon explains in the video, narrating and how Target helped alleviate the hardships and get The Honey Pot in many major retailers. At the end of the commercial, Dixon says, "The reason why it’s so important for The Honey Pot to do well is so the next black girl that comes up with a great idea could have a better opportunity. That means a lot to me.

Though meant to be an empowering message for Black women, many have taken this last statement another way and have resorted to attacking Dixon and The Honey Pot for beingThe ad has gained widespread attention on social media, with people rallying online to show their support for the brand after many presumably white costumers began leaving one-star reviews on the brand’sas a form of attack.

“The Honey Pot's profile page on Trustpilot has been temporarily suspended while Trustpilot's Content Integrity team investigates an unusual influx of reviews, some of which violate Trustpilot's guidelines. The page will be reinstated after investigation of the reviews,” the page currently reads. “Due to the high influx of reviews we cannot guarantee that reviews provide a genuine representation of the company.
