By the end of the season, the event comes into focus: a very public head explosion in front of a very public high school gathering, as the strangely superpowered Syd instinctively uses her abilities to kill local jock Brad Lewis in horrifying fashion.
She brings this very specific quality of being innocent and childlike but also being super strong at the same time. It's a natural position she takes. When we were going through the thought process, originally the character of Sydney in the books and the version of her when we started writing the series was someone much loser to Alyssa [from].
