The Trade Desk CEO Jeff Green says that Amazon has an 'objectivity problem' when it comes to convincing brands to run campaigns on its platform.
Investors in ad-tech companies are increasingly asking how those companies will compete with Amazon as the e-commerce giant expands into advertising.
The Trade Desk is laser-focused on OTT advertising from ad-supported apps, particularly ones that aren't part of"skinny bundles." Programmatic advertising companies that have also powered those pipes are starting to feel the heat from investors and marketers who want to know how these companies plan to compete with Amazon. One such company is The Trade Desk, which provides software that plugs into agencies' trading desks and analyzes billions of ad impressions to buy digital ads.
"I do think that they have aspirations to monetize the rest of the internet, but it's a very small initiative and a very small contribution to the huge amount of success that they've had in a short amount of time for monetizing their own site," Green said.though they said that Amazon is building up its programmatic business.
