I’ve been writing about video games, television and movies for Forbes for over 10 years, and you may have seen my reviews on Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic. I cover all manner of console and PC games, but if it’s about looting or shooting, I’m definitely there. If I’m watching something, it’s usually science fiction, horror or superheroic.
While Bethesda will get much more involved in Starfield’s mod scene next year, plenty of fans are already doing what they can to get around the game’s limitations or annoyances . Or sometimes they’re just well, they’re sublime.
Behold the best mod for Starfield so far: replacing all the ships in the game with Thomas the Tank Engine:“For his crimes against God and his invention of murder, Thomas was smote, thusly. Rejected from Hell and obviously never going to get into Heaven, they say that the Tank Engine has been banished to wander the stars forever, unable to satiate his bloodlust and unable to find peace in his heart.
This whole thing, of course, is a reference to the famous Thomas the Tank engine mod in Skyrim which replaced its dragons:Sony PlayStation Surprisingly Completes Its Journey From 4K Blu Ray Zero To Hero There are some problems this creates in shipbuilding and flying in third person, I guess, so you are probably going to not want to use this outside of recording a few meme videos, most likely. Are you mad that I took you here by calling this the best Starfield mod? Well, I do think it’s the best, however, as consolation here are some actually useful mods you can use for the game:Okay, is that enough for you? Hopefully for now.
I am looking forward to more of what players come up with, outside of Train-based mods and these others, and I imagine it’s going to be a lot of creative stuff, in addition to continuing to “fix” the game with various improvements. Much more to come in the next few months and years.
