Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez paid tribute Wednesday night to the late former Senate Secretary and Philippine Constitution Association (Philconsa) Secretary General, Dr. Hezel Gacutan, for his exceptional service to the country.
In his eulogy during a necrological service held at the Manila Memorial Park in Paranaque City, Romualdez called Gacutan “a truly remarkable man,” an exceptional public servant, and a stalwart figure in the history of Philippine politics.
“He served during a time of immense change, a period when our nation grappled with critical issues of political and economic development. He held the Senate’s institutional memory, ensuring that the wisdom and experience of our past informed our present and future decisions,” Romualdez noted. “But, beyond his illustrious professional accomplishments, what truly set Dr. Gacutan apart was his unwavering integrity, his tireless dedication, and his profound love for our nation,” Romualdez said.
