Simone Biles Says ‘I’m Doing This Just for Me’ Ahead of Olympics
The decorated gymnast, 22, appeared on Today, where she discussed with host Savannah Guthrie her recent history-making performances and her thoughts looking ahead to the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.
“Coming back I’m doing this just for me and I think that this is different than the last time around, for me I feel like I have nothing to prove to anyone and I think that’s what keeps me in the sport besides love and passion.” “I feel like you can always talk the talk, but you have to show up and you have to prove. You just have to do your job at the end of the day. It would almost be better if you just proved to everyone rather than talking because talking is easy,” she told Guthrie.
“I thought that nothing was really going to happen … not too many people pay attention to gymnastics, especially in a non-Olympic year so it was crazy to see how viral it went. It just kept accumulating, and it is still going. It is kind of crazy,” she added.
