No kidding: “Ready Now” is Hall’s first solo album of original material since 2007, and it’s due for release on Friday, Sept. 16. It’s produced by Joe Bonamassa, who co-wrote some of the songs and contributed plenty of guitar work. Other special guests include Warren Haynes and Jared James Nichols. It’s a reminder that while Hall is best known as the front man for Wet Willie, his career has encompassed solo work as well as collaborations with the likes of Jeff Beck, Hank Williams Jr., various members of the extended Allman Brothers Band family and more.Holy Cow, there’s Jimmy Hall standing right behind Donny Osmond in a pure-’80s music video. Wow! This track starts off with some appropriately raucous guitar and some iffy vocals, in keeping with its audition concept. Just hang on.
