Senate bet Matula: Too much at stake in Eleksyon2022 for workers to stay mum
There's too much at stake for workers not to take a stand in Eleksyon 2022, senatorial candidate Sonny Matula said on Saturday.
In a statement ahead of Labor Day, Matula said workers' groups would declare their support for the presidential candidacy of Vice President Leni Robredo and vice presidential bid of Senator Francis Pangilinan on May 1. "There is too much as stake in this coming elections for workers to stay mum. The biggest alliance of workers will make a political statement," Matula said.
Matula said this year’s Labor Day was different as workers faced attacks on jobs, livelihood, and economy amid COVID-19 pandemic. Among the workers’ agenda are wage increase, improved social protection, safer workplaces, ending contractualization of labor or "endo,” and end violence against workers.
