“As the investigation progressed and officers were able to view video from multiple sources and interview witnesses, the evidence instead supported a charge of manslaughter. To protect the integrity of the investigation, we are not able to elaborate on the details that are of evidentiary value against the accused,” the statement said.Article content
Police said they continue to be in direct contact with the victim’s family and have extended Victim Services’ support to them. In one 10-second clip shared with the StarPhoenix, an announcer can be heard acknowledging a fight on the dance floor. It shows two women fighting, and one of them ending up facedown on the floor within a few seconds, in a pool of blood. Several people can be seen in the background, including a few who walked up to the fight, but the video doesn’t show anyone intervening.
