San Antonio Councilmembers took the first step to adopt restrictions on businesses that stay open past midnight and allow customers to bring their own alcohol.

In October 2022, there was a deadly shootout at the Jungle Hookah Bar at the intersection of Babcock Road and De Zavala Road. The business allowed customers to bring their own alcohol and stay as long as they wanted. The man lives close to the shopping strip where Jungle Hookah Lounge was located before it was shut down.

“If the business owners won’t take the responsibility themselves someone’s going to have to force the responsibility on them,” said the man.
