Looking to erase a double-digit fourth-quarter deficit for a second straight week, San Antonio's offense stalled near midfield, lifting St. Louis to a win.

One week after scoring two touchdowns in the final minute for a come-from-behind win, the San Antonio Brahmas had another chance at some late magic Sunday, taking possession with a seven-point deficit in the final two minutes. But on a day when the offense had to grind for every yard, the Brahmas ran out of time on their final push in the Alamodome , stalling around midfield in a 31-24 loss to the St. Louis Battlehawks — San Antonio’s first setback on the young UFL season.

San Antonio needed just one play in the second half to deliver its first defensive stop, as corner Darius Phillips fought through a block to force a fumble on a wide receiver screen, jumping on the loose ball himself to secure the takeaway. But the Brahmas settled for a 32-yard field goal, and the Battlehawks answered with a 54-yard field goal on their next possession to stretch the lead back to 20-12.
