Rochester, N.Y. Many of you living in Rochester may notice a change in the police officers working in your neighborhood as RPD reorganizes its patrol sections.
Rochester Police Chief David Smith sat down with 13WHAM to talk about the department's new reorganization plan.
"We talk about rightsizing workload, so is it necessarily fair and the best way to do things when you have an officer in a busy area handling 20 911 jobs a shift, and another officer handling 12 911 jobs a shift?" Smith said. "So again, we are looking at trying to equalize that across the board, and that is part of this change as well."
The plan will include a designated detail in the East End bar district on Friday and Saturday nights, and will increase officer patrols in the downtown area.
