Rochester police released the body-worn camera footage from the officer-involved shooting on First Street Monday, Sept. 28, 2023. A man was shot in the jaw and seriously injured following a pursuit and altercation with an officer. after the driver allegedly refused to stop. Officers then pursued the truck to First and Hampel streets, where it crashed into a pole.
Two counts of attempted criminal possession of a weapon, after he allegedly tried to take the officer's handgun during the incident.James is prohibited from possession a handgun in New York state, after being convicted Jan. 6, 2020 of attempted criminal possession of a weapon. He was released from prison Sept. 19, 2021 and discharged from parole Sept. 17, 2022.
