President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. attended the 'Trabaho sa Bagong Pilipinas Para sa 4Ps' job fair in Iloilo, highlighting the importance of skills matching for secure employment. The initiative aims to help 4Ps beneficiaries transition from government aid to financial independence through job placement and skills development.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. underscored the significance of skills matching in attaining stable employment during a job fair titled 'Trabaho sa Bagong Pilipinas Para sa 4Ps' held at the Iloilo Sports Complex on Thursday. He highlighted the common predicament of job seekers whose skills often don't align with the positions they apply for, emphasizing the need to bridge this gap.
The initiative, launched by the Office of the President on January 31st in Manila, aims to guide beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) towards financial self-sufficiency by transitioning them away from government assistance. This effort is a collaborative undertaking involving the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and other relevant agencies. President Marcos expressed optimism that with over 2,500 applicants registered and 2,000 job openings available, a significant number of job seekers would secure employment. He stressed that skills assessment and job matching would be crucial in connecting applicants with suitable employers, fostering long-term job stability. To support the beneficiaries, all participants will undergo pre-employment orientation and receive P3,000 in food assistance through DSWD's Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program. The Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) will provide additional employment-related assistance, while those who are hired immediately will receive up to P5,000 under the Employment Assistance Fund (EAF) to cover pre-employment expenses such as clearances, medical examinations, and other necessary requirements. DOLE has partnered with 27 employers to create hiring opportunities, while 15 government agencies are on-site to provide assistance with inquiries and services. The Department of Agriculture (DA) also organized an expo featuring 42 exhibitors under the KADIWA ng Pangulo program, offering local producers a platform to showcase their products
