He also reminded all newly promoted that as police officers their duty is not just to enforce the law, but also to build trust and good relationships with the community. Further, they are expected to treat every member of the public with dignity and respect, and work to bridge the gaps that may exist.
“Bilang inyong pinuno, inaasahan ko ang inyong kooperasyon sa ating ginagawang internal cleansing program upang tuluyang wakasan ang mga di kanais-nais na pagmamalabis ng ibang kasamahan natin sa serbisyo at iba pang maling gawain na labag sa batas at moralidad – lalong lalo na ang mga nasasangkot sa iligal na droga,” Azurin further added.
The regular promotion program of the PNP ensures a streamlined rank structure of the entire 227,000 strong police officers in the organization based on the staffing pattern approved by the National Police Commission.amid fears that some high-ranking police officers are involved in the illegal drug trade.
