While many restaurants will offer de rigueur Mexican-American fare for Cinco de Mayo, Pitfire Pizza and Sonoratown have created a burrito pizza.
, Pitfire Pizza, a pizzeria with locations in Los Angeles, San Diego and Orange County, has teamed up with Sonoratown, a Northern Mexico-style taco joint in DTLA, to create a one-day-only pizza for May 5.
The Chivichanga Pizza, as it’s called, tips its hat to Sonoratown’s chivichanga burrito but in pizza form on Pitfire Pizza’s blistered sourdough crust and topped with a guisado of shredded chicken, monterey jack and cheddar. The pie is then anointed with a handul of sliced radish, charred green onion and a wedge of lime to be squeezed on shortly before eating. The pizza also comes with sides of avocado cream and Sonoratown’s chiltepin salsa for dipping.
