A total of 14 volcanic earthquakes including eight volcanic tremors had been reported in Taal Volcano in the past 24 hours, the PHIVOLCS said Wednesday. Alert Level 1 is maintained over Taal Volcano.
The number of volcano earthquakes on Wednesday was higher compared to the six volcanic earthquakes including one volcanic tremor that were reported on Tuesday.
Also, the moderate emission of plumes from Taal Volcano grew from 1,200 meters to 2,400 meters, drifting to the southwest directions. An upwelling of hot volcanic fluids in the Main Crater Lake and a vog, which is a smog or haze containing volcanic dust and gasses, were observed in the area. A short-term inflation of the western Taal Volcano Island and a long-term deflation of the Taal Caldera were also noticed in the volcano.Entry to Taal Volcano Island remains prohibited, especially the main crater and Daang Kastila fissures, as well as occupancy and boating on Taal Lake.— Joviland Rita/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
