Pennsylvania’s top three favorites were found to be, in ascending order: “The Legend of Zelda” ; “Sonic the Hedgehog” ; and “Super Mario Bros.” . “Super Mario Bros.” was actually the number one favorite in the majority of states including California, Texas, and Florida. The national runner-up in second was “The Legend of Zelda,” a favorite in places such as Washington and West Virginia., “Super Mario Bros.” was first released in October 1985 before launching into international popularity that has lasted pretty much through today.
For those unfamiliar , the game follows Mario, a plumber who’s tasked to save the “quiet, peace-loving Mushroom People” from a nefarious tribe of turtles known as the Koopa. The franchise has recently been adapted into a movie starring Chris Pratt as Mario and Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach.
