A futuristic periwinkle blue just got named the color of the year for 2022. But a rainbow of other hues have also been given the title.
Paint companies Dunn-Edwards and Behr started announcing their picks in 2017. The phenomenon now includes annual entries from wall-decal companies, online marketplaces, brick and concrete manufacturers, magazines and fabric makers.
To Pantone, which typically announces its color of the year last, in early December, there is no competition. At the company’s color reveal party in downtown Manhattan on Wednesday, models and influencers sipped on brightly colored cocktails and posed for photos in front of an immersive exhibit that projected Very Peri, the 2022 color, on the walls and floors.
