A day after being pulled due to ankle injury, Fernando Tatis Jr. ties game with pinch-hit single; reliever Robert Suarez and catcher Luis Campusano on track to be welcome additions
Fernando Tatis Jr. probably would not have started Sunday’s game anyway a day after rolling his right ankle. But the rain that fell throughout the morning and into the afternoon made that a certainty.
“I was just ready for his best pitch,” Tatis, who was still limping slightly after the game, said of the 99.5 mph fastball from Gregory Soto. “Thank God I was able to execute.” He meant that he has felt none of the pain when swinging that he had dealt with “every day” the previous two months.
