Opinion: California needs to settle on it's own standard time and drop Daylight Saving Time [Opinion]
It is impossible to save daylight. Californians could save millions of power usage dollars and reduce the peak hour strain on California’s power grid by returning to year-round California Standard Time.
If year-round standard time was adopted, Californians could shut off their air conditioners one hour earlier at 7 p.m. during the hot summer months rather than turning off their Daylight Savings air-conditioners at 8 p.m. Also, parents would not have to get their kids ready for school in the dark and working Californians would not have to commute during the dark morning hours. And one more thing I would not have to reset my 15 clocks and watches twice every year. Other states have adopted year-round standard time. California should do the same.
