OAKLAND — An East Bay man has been arrested and charged with murdering a man during a heated argument over a last-minute eviction caused by a suspected love triangle, court records show.
Charles Dupree, 31, was charged with murdering 22-year-old Anthony Samuels during the early morning hours of March 15. Dupreeoutside of an apartment complex on the 3300 block of East 17th Street. He was arrested in late May, and his next court date is set for late August, records show. The motive, according to police, stemmed from a dispute involving Dupree, the mother of his child, and his godsister. Out of everyone present for the shooting, Samuels was the least involved, authorities say.
On the night of March 14, the mother of Dupree’s child kicked Dupree’s godsister out of their home based on a suspicion that she and Dupree were involved romantically, and the godsister called Samuels for help moving her stuff. When Samuels arrived, a heated argument ensued involving Samuels and Dupree.
