The Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 experienced a power outage on Labor Day, May 1, delaying flights and leaving passengers stranded., NAIA said the power outage happened at 1:05 a.m., and that the engineering team of the Manila International Airport Authority and Meralco are looking into the cause.
Standby power is now supplying electricity to critical facilities—like those that enable airline computer systems and the Bureau of Immigration—to function partially and enable the processing of both inbound and outbound passengers, according to NAIA. "The MIAA Management apologizes to air travellers for the inconvenience that the situation may have brought to them," it said. The MIAA personnel are now continuously doing the rounds at Terminal 3 to assist affected passengers.said a total of 40 flights to and from Manila were canceled as of 9:00 a.m. due to the power outage.
