THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority announced on Thursday that shopping malls can resume their normal operating hours after the anticipated traffic congestion brought about by the holiday rush did not happen.Acting MMDA Chairman Romando Artes said that 'an easing in the flow of traffic in Metro Manila's thoroughfares have been observed despite the increase in Christmas-related activities'.
The MMDA and shopping mall operators had agreed to adjust their operating hours from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. beginning November 14 as one of the remedial measures to reduce traffic congestion in the National Capital Region at the onset of the holiday season.The MMDA also said that from Dec. 24, 2022 to Jan. 2, 2023, provincial buses will be allowed to travel along EDSA.Provincial buses coming from North Luzon shall converge at the bus terminals in Cubao, Quezon City, it said.
