The Constitutional Court (MK) of Indonesia has declared the 20 percent parliamentary seat or 25 percent national vote threshold for presidential candidates unconstitutional. This ruling overturns previous decisions by the MK to uphold the threshold enshrined in Article 222 of the 2017 Election Law. The court stated that the threshold violates the political rights and sovereignty of the people, as well as moral, rational, and fair principles, ultimately contradicting the 1945 Indonesian Constitution.

Salah satu alasan PKS adalah ingin memperkuat sistem demokrasi dan membuka peluang lebih banyak lahirnya calon presiden dan calon wakil presiden terbaik pada masa-masa yang akan datang.
