CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro – A looming power shutdown in Occidental Mindoro scheduled at the start of the year was averted after the National Electrification Administration promised to intervene for the immediate release of a government subsidy to a disgruntled power provider in the province.
Luis Manuel Banson, OMCPC president, as a gesture of goodwill, for their part promised not to push through with their scheduled shutdown on January 1. Coupled with this predicament, the NPC also informed OMECO that its 10-megawatt generator set at Pulang Lupa, Occidental Mindoro has ceased operation with the end of its rental contract last December 31.
