He met with key cabinet members to review the spending measure, received late Friday, and aims to finalize it before the year ends. Marcos seeks to address issues like increasing the Department of Education's budget and removing inappropriate insertions in the Department of Public Works and Highways' budget using his veto power.
MALACAÑANG said Monday President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is not considering having a reenacted budget for next year and will push for the passage of the proposed P6.352-trillion 2025 General Appropriations Act this month.
“The printed copy of the spending measure was only received late Friday afternoon. President Marcos Jr. hopes to act on the measure before the year ends,” Chavez said. “In the past two meetings that I attended with them, there was never discussion on that ,” Chavez said.
