The Makati City local government has lifted its closure order issued against Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company’s wireless arm Smart Communications Inc. on its headquarters and other offices located in Makati City for operating without a business permit since 2019 and non-payment of franchise tax worth over P3.2 billion.
“This development follows the parties’ execution of a compromise agreement on March 2, 2023 stating the terms of settlement of their pending local taxation issues,” PLDT said in a disclosure sent to the stock exchange.
