The low pressure area near Eastern Samar dissipated on Thursday morning, Dec. 29, but the effect of the shear line has restrengthened, which could bring rains over some parts of the country in the next 24 hours, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration .

In its 11 a.m. weather advisory issued on Thursday, PAGASA said the shear line will bring “moderate to heavy with at times intense rains” over Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, and Occidental Mindoro. Meanwhile, “light to moderate with at times heavy rains” may prevail over Camarines Norte, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan.“Flooding and rain-induced landslides are likely, especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards as identified in hazard maps and in areas with significant antecedent rainfall,” PAGASA warned.

It advised the public and concerned disaster risk reduction and management offices to take all necessary precautionary measures to protect lives and property.
