Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana assured Filipinos that the elections on Monday will be peaceful and orderly as the police and the military have declared that there is no imminent threat to the conduct of the polls.Lorenzana said government security forces have been deployed and areas perceived as hot spots have been placed under the control of the Commission on Elections .'So far generally, it will be a very peaceful election. Mayroon lang sigurong [kaunti].

The Philippine Army also said that a contingency force of 400 personnel will be on guard in the National Capital Region.Philippine National Police officer-in-charge Lieutenant General Vicente Danao Jr. agreed with Lorenzana that no serious threats have been detected in connection with the upcoming national and local elections.Danao said that the PNP will use the 'full force of the law' against those who attempt to sabotage the polls.
