Several regencies/cities in Central Java, East Java, and West Java have recorded a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) above Rp 100 million or above the national GDP of Rp 75 million per year. GDP per capita usually reflects the prosperity of a region due to the size of its economic value. However, this reflection is not entirely accurate as GDP per capita calculates the value of the region's GDP divided by its population. If the region has a large GDP value and a small population, then the GDP per capita will be high. However, if the GDP is large and the population is also large, then the GDP per capita value will be smaller. Kediri in East Java becomes the regency/city with the highest GDP per capita in East Java, Central Java, and West Java. The cigarette-producing city records a GDP per capita of Rp 541.11 million per year or Rp 45.09 million per month.
