Dear How to Do It: I'm not sure how to get past this.
I’m a 52-year-old male who looks 42. I’m healthy, fairly handsome, very intelligent, successful, musically talented, generous, and have a great sense of humor. But, I have the absolute most difficult time engaging any type of sex that involves my penis because it’s smaller than average, and noticeably so.
I know a lot of guys think that, but in my case it’s really true. It’s been over a decade since I’ve had sex, been on a date, or even had a kiss, because at this point, I have so little self-confidence that I haven’t even attempted to ask a woman out. There’ve been many women who wanted to ask me out, but I just can’t—the penis size issue is a mental block for me.From age 18 to 38, I had a number of sexual encounters, and four short- or medium-term girlfriends, even a fiancé.
On the other hand, at least five of the women I’ve had sex with, including one girlfriend, said that I was unbelievably good in bed, and I know they meant it, because we had intense sex most of the time. I’m also very sensual and imaginative, and I make up for any lack of penis, and then some. But the damage, or fear, or whatever you want to call it is there, and it won’t go away. I’m at a loss for how to move beyond this, especially now that I’m the not-so-ripe age of 52.
