This neuroscientist’s research at Mars Wrigley is influencing many of America’s favorite products. WomenInScience

While earning her doctorate degree, she worked in the field of developmental psychology where she studied how infants learn. As she finished her Ph.D., Mars recruited her for their internal think tank to develop projects in cognitive sciences. Her projects were linked to consumer insights, marketing, sensory and product development and human resources. “At that time,” Miquel explains, “we were interested in improving the quality of our marketing campaigns.

Science influences Mars’ business strategies, research and development and marketing campaigns. Science shows how society is evolving and what the consumer needs and wants. Miquel and her team look outside the company to what's going on in the real world to determine how Mars can evolve its products.

As Miquel mentors junior associates or young females looking to pivot into a science related-field, she advises:Develop the ability to be adaptable. The business landscape is ever evolving. If you resist change, you risk failing.
