Houston girls soccer power rankings: Top teams close in on district titles
Cypress Woods did something no other District 16-6A team has been able to do this season: Earn a point against first-place Bridgeland.The Houston Chronicle's weekly area high school girls soccer power rankings. Rankings are based on overall and recent performances, quality wins, strength of schedule and team accomplishments.The Bears are closing in on the District 16-6A championship after defeating Cypress Ranch 3-0 and playing Cypress Woods to a 1-1 draw.
The Spartans maintained the 19-6A lead with a pair of clean sheets, defeating Mayde Creek 9-0 and Jordan 2-0 to bring their season total to 16 shutouts. Seven Lakes hosts Paetow on Tuesday and visits Katy on Friday.The Highlanders earned a key 3-1 win against second-place Grand Oaks and blanked Cleveland 7-0 to push their winning streak to nine matches. The Woodlands could clinch the 13-6A title this week as it hosts College Park on Tuesday and visits Caney Creek on Friday.
