Lawmakers to DoTr: Step up airport securityLawmakers to DoTr: Step up airport securityDAVAO CITY First District Rep. Paolo Duterte and Benguet Rep. Eric Yap on Friday urged the Department of Transportation (DoTr) to check the status of and upgrade security facilities in the country's airports in order to reduce congestion in passenger terminals and heighten measures to ensure public safety. In a resolution, the two lawmakers said the DoTr should include in its proposed budget for 2024 the expenditures needed to improve these facilities given the ever-increasing number of travelers going in and out of the country.Duterte and Yap pointed out that the lessening of health and safety regulations for travel has resulted in a significant increase in airline passenger growth, particularly during the holiday seasons. This advice stems from the usual congestion at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and other airports across the Philippines.According to reports citing officials of the Man
