Following Bell’s leadoff walk in the fifth, German retired Giménez, Zunino and Will Brennan in order.
The game finally took a deep breath when Enyel De Los Santos relieved Quantrill in the eighth inning following Volpe’s one-out single. De Los Santos make a pickoff throw to first, and Volpe was originally called safe, but the Guardians challenged to slow the game to a fever pitch.
