The Running Man Continues Powell's Meteoric Rise In Hollywood Though having worked consistently since 2003, the past few years have been especially favorable for Powell. 2022 saw him star in both Top Gun: Maverick, one of the year's most acclaimed and highest-grossing movies, and Devotion which, though a commercial failure, was well-received by critics and audiences alike.
With Top Gun 3 also in development, and Powell keen to reprise his role as Hangman in the movie, it's clear the actor's rise in popularity is nowhere near slowing heading into The Running Man. Combined with Wright at the helm, not only can Powell's leading turn in the movie bring a fresh approach to King's material, but could even find a way to outlive the legacy of the Schwarzenegger original.
